If you’re interested in sustainability you probably already know that Germany is one of the leading nations when it comes to sustainable energy. In the first half of 2010 25% of all the electricity was renewable. This should be 35% by 2030 and 80% by 2050. On the other hand, Germany’s biggest energy producer (RWE) still produces a lot of energy from coal (you can see a photo below). However, there are a lot of protests against that.
German people don’t only take care of the world by using renewable electricity; they also try to eat the right food. Germany is the key player in the market of organic food, and they have always played a pioneer role. According to some websites German people are even scared of chemicals in food, which is why they will get angry with people that don’t eat organic food. I don’t know how much of this is true, but we’ll find out soon!
