Biodynamic farming

The farm we went to is special in every single way. For instance, it grows about ten to twenty different kinds of fruits and vegetables, on a very small piece of land. The farmer says that this is a good thing to do because some vegetables, say carrots, leave minerals in the soil that are very useful for other vegetables. So one year the farmer will grow carrots on that spot, and the next he will grow beans there.
Another special thing is that everything used at the farm is local, even the fertilizer. The farm next to this one has a lot of cows, and all the excrement of the cows is used as fertilizer for this farm. The cows are taken care of in a completely organic way too, so everything about the food is organic.
But there’s more. The farmer even uses a special way to plough his land. He owns two pigs, and when the soil needs to be ploughed, he will let the pigs live on that piece of land for a while, and the land will automatically be ploughed.
We helped harvesting the tomatoes for some time, and of course we tasted them too. I can easily say that these were the best tomatoes I’ve ever tasted, and the same goes for the carrots and the beans! Who needs conventional farming when organic and biodynamic farming exists? It’s so much better for the world, it’s healthier, and it tastes a lot better too!
There are some photos of the farm below.
